Located in South Bowenfels, the Lithgow Campus is considered as a comprehensive community health centre supporting approximately 20,000 people living in the town and surrounding areas. The services available in Lithgow hospital include Domiciliary care unit, Emergency department, Geriatric assessment unit, Obstetric services, Paediatric service, Drug and Alcohol unit.
Our Lithgow Surgical Services team is seeking to engage a qualified Sterilisation Technician. The Sterilisation Technician is responsible for adhering to current policies and standards whilst providing sterile or disinfected items and/or equipment to all stakeholders within the NBMLHD. The successful candidate is expected to work as an integral team member, having sound knowledge and training, to perform duties which includes supervising new staff gaining experience in the unit.
The Sterilisation Technician will assist in ensuring quality management including record keeping, daily testing of machinery, and monitoring stock levels in Sterile stock room. The role will aim to minimise risks by ensuring adherence to safe manual handling principles, infection prevention and control guidelines, and safe work practices, including those relating to the handling of chemicals and biological hazards.

What you will bring to the role: Completion of a Certificate III in Sterilisation at TAFE. with knowledge of AUS/NZ standards and infection control principles Demonstrated ability to work in a busy department whilst handling multiple priorities Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment & independently Physically capable of carrying out all duties, including handling chemicals, biological hazards, standing for extended periods of time, lifting, pulling, and pushing loads Moderate computer skills Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills Demonstrated ability to provide support to staff whilst learning new skills Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
