STEM Teacher - $5000 Financial IncentiveJob posted: 08/11/2024Officer Specialist School is a purpose-built facility servicing the needs of students aged between 5-18, with mild to severe intellectual and associated disabilities in the shires of Cardinia and Casey. The school opened in 2014 and the student population has increased rapidly each year, requiring the recruitment of new staff and additions to our buildings and facilities. There are two departments at the school, Primary and Secondary, which include classrooms, visual and performance arts spaces, food technology kitchens, multipurpose spaces, and extensive therapy spaces.School staff work in transdisciplinary teams that include teaching staff, allied health practitioners, and education support staff to cater for the diverse range of student abilities and needs. Our teaming approach also provides opportunities for staff to learn from one another and share expertise.Officer Specialist School aims to create reflective and independent learners through a learning community that provides a challenging and secure environment responsive to individual learning needs. We believe that effective learning occurs when outstanding and innovative teaching staff provide a variety of tasks that actively engage students who are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning.Selection CriteriaSC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.SC2 Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.SC3 Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning.SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.SC5 Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values.RoleThe classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges- range 1 and range 2.
