About the Role: As a Tech Schools STEM Communications Officer, you will have a critical role in developing and facilitating programs within the Banyule Nillumbik or the Whittlesea Tech School.
The key outcomes of your work will include supporting student-centered STEM education using design-based learning strategies for the young people of Northern Melbourne.
You will work within a team to create and deliver events and learning experiences within the Tech School.
You will also engage stakeholders and the public in both Tech Schools through innovative use of online channels, exhibition spaces and events.
You will be a champion for innovation and STEM learning experiences building upon ideas and networks to ensure high quality engagements.
If you have a passion for design, science, technology, engineering, innovation with commensurate professional experience, and importantly, a desire to inspire the next generation of innovators, this is the position for you.
Duties: Develop student-centered learning experiences and concepts through prototyping of concepts and content for delivery through modelling, text, digital and visual media, interactives, and audio.
Promote STEM and innovation within Melbourne Polytechnic and the Tech School partnership.
Undertake other administrative duties and support as required.
Support all STEM communication on an ongoing basis, working closely with the Tech School Team.
Collaborate in the development of Tech School learning programs to embed design, innovation, scientific literacy, and enterprise skills for all.
Participate in the planning and executing of Tech School events and activities.
Work with secondary students and teachers to facilitate inquiry-based projects.
Provide guidance on the presentation and exhibition of resources and artifacts online and within the Tech Schools.

Skills and Experience Required: Relevant experience and qualifications in Design, STEM education, Science and Technology related fields or similar.
Demonstrated ability to confidently communicate complex technical, social and environmental concepts and collaborate with key stakeholders, including young people, teachers and community.
Demonstrated experience in the delivery and evaluation of engaging learning activities through the development of content, materials and exhibits.
Experience in using new technologies and materials in order to deliver conceptual solutions to a diverse audience.
Valid Employee Working with Children Check - mandatory.
Current National police Check – mandatory.
