Purpose of the role:Protect and serve the community by responding to fires and other emergencies in a professional and timely manner to minimise loss to life, property and the environment.Improve the safety and emergency preparedness of the community by contributing to fire prevention and community education activities.Key requirements: Mandatory Requirements:This is an operational position.
Only applicants with relevant firefighting experience should apply.Applicants must hold a current valid Blue Card and a manual Medium Rigid (MR) driver's licence as recognised by the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads. Your key accountabilities: Responsibilities:Manage operational assignments including responses to fire, road crash rescue/entrapments and hazardous material incidents.Prepare budget estimates and manage financial responsibilities at station level.Manage the effective utilisation and maintenance of station resources.Coordinate and conduct community safety and fire prevention/education activities.Manage training and staff development requirements of station staff.Develop cooperative arrangements with auxiliary and volunteer emergency service partners.Manage communication within the workplace and liaise with other emergency services.Comply with responsibilities of WHS legislation.Capabilities: Role: You will be assessed on the following Leadership Competencies for Queensland:Leads strategicallyStimulates ideas and innovationBuilds enduring relationshipsDrives accountability and outcomesHow To Apply: The QFR Station Officer Statement of Suitability Template September 2024 MUST be used in this process and submitted with your application in Nexus.
