Due to an internal promotion, we're seeking a Station Manager for our Dalgonally and Carrum properties in North Queensland. This role is based at Dalgonally Station, located 80 km north of Julia Creek and 189 km north-east of Cloncurry. Dalgonally is a vital part of our cattle operations network, focused on breeding F1s and PB Wagyus to support our premium beef production.
You'll also oversee Carrum Station, which is essential to our bull production for the Northern Business Units. Carrum supports the Mitchell Bull and Wagyu Fullblood breeding program by backgrounding and growing out replacement bulls, involving significant data collection, semen testing, and bull selection.
Job DescriptionSome of the key responsibilities you can expect in the role are to: Proactively manage key business drivers to ensure optimal station productivity, profitability, performance, quality, and compliance.Oversee the intensive AI program to improve the beef and Wagyu programs.Monitor cattle welfare and feeding progress.Prepare budgets and report on operational and capital expenditures.Manage and report on weekly and monthly performance metrics.Build and maintain productive relationships with local suppliers, regulatory authorities, veterinarians, and communities.Develop short- and long-term operational plans in coordination with the regional manager.Ensure employees and contractors comply with safety management systems and relevant legislation.Facilitate effective communication and consultation processes, enabling employees to raise and discuss concerns with management.Desired Skills and ExperienceSome of the core experience and skills required for this role are listed below, however you do not have to tick every box to apply: Experience in the operation and management of a pastoral property.Previous experience with Breeding and Genetics and R&D trials.Ability to lead, manage, and develop employees.Knowledge of modern animal husbandry techniques.Current driver's license.Strong leadership qualities, financial acumen, record keeping, project management and excellent communication skills.Intermediate computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and relevant industry software.Extensive experience in cattle herd, pasture, and water management.Knowledge of market specifications and ability to draft cattle accordingly.Familiarity with the CattleCare Quality Assurance Program.Strong understanding of company policies and procedures.Ability to implement the company's Safety Management System.Degree in agricultural business, animal science, or related studies.Apply Now to join the AAco Team!
