These stations are in close proximity to Tom Price, Paraburdoo and Newman respectively, nestled either side of the beautiful Karijini National Park and 3 hour drive to the coast of Karratha. 7,500 head of cattleBreed of cattle is DroughtmasterWhat you will be doingCoordinate, plan and execute mustering of livestock for processing and sales in accordance with the mustering scheduleProvide leadership and guidance to staff to ensure they are working in line with Rio Tinto standardsWork with leadership team to effectively recruit and onboard staffSupport management team to manage budget and identify cost savingsWork with the Senior Advisor to implement asset management and maintenance plans to ensure ongoing maintenance and improvement of infrastructure and assets - property infrastructure such as fences, mobile and fixed plant, cattle yards, water pointsEnsure safety standards and processes are embedded, monitored and consistentManage contractors and suppliers, including cattle trucks and helicopters with approved budgets, and identify operational efficiencies and cost saving initiativesEnsure contractors working alongside Pastoral Team are compliant with RTIO standards and set up for successEducate and coach team on culturally important areas to our Traditional Owners and Traditional Owners engagementEnsure best animal husbandry practices and approaches are implemented across the station to enhance herd performance, low stress stock handling Provide safety leadership through verifications, safety interactions and field leadershipEnsure consistent and timely communications, conducting regular pre-starts, team and safety meetingsDefine performance expectations for employees and contractors and coach performance against these standards, including conducting performance appraisalsEnsure succession planning and development of team members including appropriate training and assessment in order for employees to competently, safely and productively perform all aspects of their roleWhat you will needStrong background and in experience in Overseer/Station Manager role essentialDemonstrated experience and knowledge in station maintenance including infrastructure, plant and equipment (yards, water points, fencing, fault finding and understanding bore operations)Experience operating Trucks, 4WD and motorbikesHR License & Gun license required or ability to obtainProven experience demonstrating strong safety values and commitment to prioritising safety before operationsExperience with financial acumen and contractor managementStrong knowledge of animal welfare/husbandry and/or pastoral/rural managementDemonstrated ability to plan and coordinate in an organised and flexible manner.Strong leadership skills Understanding of safety management systemsSound computer skills and ability to utilise required software platformsStrong verbal and written communication skillsBenefitsStrong pipeline of upcoming / ongoing workVery competitive ratesA culture driven work environmentsSingle contractor quarters with private ensuite separate from the main homesteadCommunal kitchen, dining & rec roomLow stress handlingAbout WorkPacWorkPac is Australia's leading, privately owned recruitment provider to the mining, construction, engineering, light industrial and healthcare sectors.
