Details of the offer

Our clients are seeking a Station Hand to join their privately family-owned business, which retains multiple large properties and abattoirs on the eastern seaboard of Australia. The company strives to maintain the highest industry standards for cattle farming, including welfare, safety, and security, while encouraging a positive and safe work environment. The property in focus is 30 km South West of Thargomindah and comprises 380,000 acres. As a trade cattle operation, stock numbers fluctuate rapidly throughout the year. Currently, the operation holds 5,100 head of fattening steers and heifers.

The ideal candidate for this role will work closely with the hands-on managers. They should possess stellar people skills to work with other stockmen and occasionally contractors, be able to work independently and in a team environment, be hard-working, and be able to keep up with the fast-paced day-to-day duties of this busy operation.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

Conducting mustering using 2-wheelers, 4-wheelers, and side-by-side vehicles with the opportunity to muster on horseback. Performing yard work tasks such as processing incoming cattle, administering drenches and injections, marking and tagging calf, and keeping track of stock numbers. Loading and unloading of cattle trucks. Performing general property maintenance and upkeep of the machinery and equipment used in the operation. The Offer An attractive salary package will be negotiable depending on the candidate's skills and experience. In addition to the competitive salary, our client offers a range of benefits and perks. This includes a three-bedroom, one-bath house with an office and fenced yard. A Starlink is provided for high-speed internet and a vehicle for work purposes.

Thargomindah is known to be "where three Australian states meet," the last rural hub before the iconic Burke and Wills 'Dig' Tree at Cooper Creek. The rural town also has medical and postage services, a grocer, a pub, and an airport operated by Regional Express Airlines. Thargomindah is located in South West Queensland on the Adventure Way, approximately 1,000 kilometres west of the state capital, Brisbane, and 200 kilometres west of the town of Cunnamulla.

Register your interest… If you feel you're the right fit for this position, please submit an up-to-date resume along with the contact details of 3 references. Preference will be given to those who supply a cover letter addressing their suitability - that is, tell us what you love about the role and how you think you're the right fit.
