Location Profile Applications are sought for a Teacher at our Snowy River Campus for 2025.
The School for Student Leadership (Trading as The Alpine School) is a unique year-nine specialist school operating for 24 years. More than 10,000 students have participated, both in Victoria and during an international operation in China from 2014-2019. It currently consists of four campuses.
All campuses are in regional Victoria and include Gnurad-Gundidj Campus, Noorat-Glenormiston. Forty-five students live, learn, work, play, recreate, and undertake adventures in a highly supported leadership education program. The educational program is modeled on an Experiential Education model, focusing on project/inquiry learning and social enterprise.
An extensive outdoor, environmental, and adventure education program is embedded within the school learning program. All students participate fully, as it is essential for character education and experiential learning.
Core Moral Purpose The core moral purpose of the school rests on best practice middle years education, contemporary interpretations of adolescent development, and a student-centered approach to education.
Roles and Responsibilities Specific to the Setting As a result of the multi-campus operation and the residential 9-24/7 operation on each campus, the role requires a flexible, enthusiastic, and team-oriented approach. All staff work in a close team environment, fostering collaboration and feedback.
The Principal is the instructional leader in the school. Leading Teachers will be familiar with contemporary management practices. All teachers play a crucial role in coordinating and delivering a comprehensive outdoor education component of the program. Flexibility in working hours is vital due to the unique nature of the school's operation. Selection Criteria SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.
SC2: Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies.
SC3: Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning.
SC4: Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
SC5: Demonstrated behaviours consistent with Department values.
SC6: Demonstrated knowledge, skills, or experience in teaching and learning related to education for year-nine students away from usual school settings.
Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach the specified curriculum area(s).
