Wallan Secondary College (WSC) is a Year 7 to 12 Secondary College situated in Wallan, 50 kilometres north of Melbourne, in the Mitchell Shire one of the fastest growing areas outside of the Melbourne Central Business District (CBD).
The College opened in 2006 with 110 students.
There has been strong enrolment growth in the past 12 months, with current student numbers in excess of 850.
WSC offers a wide range of programs for all ability levels, with a strong emphasis on core subjects: English, Mathematics, Science and Humanities, complemented by programs in the Arts, Music, Health and Physical Education, Technology subjects and Indonesian.
A wide range of Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) subjects are offered, along with a Vocational Major program in Year 10 to 12.
Students are encouraged to develop their leadership skills through various learning experiences.

Selection Criteria SC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.
SC2 Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies.
SC3 Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning.
SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
SC5 Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values.
Role The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges - range 1 and range 2.
The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes.
Range 2 classroom teachers will be expected to:
Have the content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet the diverse needs of all students.
Model exemplary classroom practice and mentor/coach other teachers.
Provide expert advice about content, processes and strategies for professional learning.
Supervise and train one or more student teachers.
Assist staff to use student data to inform teaching approaches.
Range 1 classroom teachers focus on developing skills and competencies with structured support and guidance.
Responsibilities The role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students; Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area; Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions; Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.
Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum areas.
