Join Victoria's newest correctional facility in an ongoing full-time role Play a key role in the delivery of support services for individuals with diverse needs Experience a dynamic and innovative workplace Help shape operations for the future of corrections Western Plains Correctional Centre (Western Plains) is Victoria's newest maximum-security correctional facility, designed to house up to 1,248 people in custody.
Western Plains is a multi-purpose facility that adapts to the evolving needs of Corrections Victoria. It features purpose-built modern amenities including medical wards, a cultural centre and vocational training facilities. It utilises cutting-edge technology to keep the facility secure, allowing staff to focus on supporting the rehabilitation of people in custody.
Western Plains will open mid-2025 and Corrections Victoria are now recruiting key roles to help shape the future operations of the facility.
About the role The Diversity Officer is part of the Offender Services team, responsible for the coordination and delivery of rehabilitation, reintegration and specialist support services at Western Plains.
As the Diversity Officer, you will manage the delivery of support and advocacy for individuals in care with diverse needs including multicultural, multi-faith, and LGBTIQ+ communities. You will coordinate specialist services, cultural and religious events, and provide practical advice to case managers on diversity-related issues.
You will deliver specialist training to the prison workforce to promote an inclusive and respectful environment for people in care. By fostering an inclusive environment, the Diversity Officer ensures all individuals are treated with dignity and have equitable access to the support and services they need.
About you You have experience working with diverse populations, coordinating support services, and understanding the unique needs of multicultural, multi-faith, and LGBTIQ+ communities. Relevant training, certification and/or qualification is desirable.
