Role An education support class position will perform tasks in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.
Responsibilities The Deaf Facility Learning Support works under the direction of the Secondary School Principal and is required to work cooperatively with mainstream teachers, teachers of the deaf and interpreters.
Ensuring strategies outlined in Individual Learning Plans (ILP) are implemented. Facilitating access to the curriculum and learning tasks to support achievement of goals outlined in the ILP. Supporting students' independence in their learning and communication skills. Supporting students to self-regulate their emotions and manage their behaviour. Supporting the development of students' cognition and academic achievement. Provide note taking and clarifying support to the students in class. Under the guidance of the mainstream teacher or Teacher of the Deaf, support small groups of students with their classwork. Participating in Students Support Group meetings on an as needs basis. Assisting with preparing resources and teaching aides. Other duties as required by the Principal.
