The Rosella Unit is a 16-bed subacute older person's mental health unit within Braeside Hospital.
The unit services consumers with a diverse range of clinical problems, including the major psychosis, mood disorders, and severe behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia.
There is also a community team covering the Liverpool-Fairfield LGA's and a limited consultation liaison service to Liverpool and Fairfield Hospital.
About the role The role of VMO or Staff Specialist SMHSOP works within the Mission and Mission in Action of Hammond Care to ensure that the SMHSOPs service at Braeside Hospital functions in a way that aligns with the Mission, Vision and Mission-in-Action of Hammond Care, to ensure that the medical and other care provided to patients in SMHSOP at Braeside is of high quality.
Essence of the role: Provide demonstrably high-quality specialist SMHSOPs services for inpatients, outpatient and community services at Braeside Hospital.
To maintain personal professional competence in Psychiatry of Old Age; To work within healthcare teams and with other senior medical staff including the OPMH teams of SWSLHD, in a cooperative and collegiate way, evidencing the Mission, Motivation and Mission In Action of Hammond Care Undertake teaching of medical students and trainee doctors, and undertake research in SMHSOPs as opportunities present Essential Criteria: Commitment to engage and align with Hammond Care's Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action Registered (or registerable) as a Specialist Medical Practitioner in Psychiatry in Australia (AHPRA) FRANZCP or equivalent Consultant qualification, preferably also holding Fellowship of the Faculty of Psychiatry of Old Age Credentialed experience in multidisciplinary specialist practice in inpatient, day hospital, consultative, clinic and community settings Demonstrated sound, effective communication skills Demonstrated ability to work in a team Organisational ability, both personal organisation and ability to supervise Willingness to participate in teaching and research projects Current Driver's License Research Qualification (desirable) Hammond Care offers its staff competitive salaries, excellent training & development opportunities, a supportive environment and a benefits program.
