The Royal Hobart Hospital and Department of Urology is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for role of Specialist Urologist.
The role may be undertaken on a full or part-time basis as a staff specialist with rights to private practice within the health service, or on a part-time Visiting Medical Specialist basis with the ability to undertake private practice in the private sector. This component may be negotiated by the successful applicant with the RHH Surgical and Perioperative Services.
Competitive Salary and Allowances A total value package of up to $598,963* will be offered depending on level of experience.
*Value calculated for a full-time, Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11, includes the market allowance, and excludes any on-call or call back provisions.
In addition to a newly revised Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022, that brings the remuneration of THS Staff Specialists to equivalence with the Victorian Award.
The role attracts a generous market allowance of $110,000 pro rata, per annum for Staff Specialists.A market allowance of $150,000 pro rata, per annum for Visiting Medical Specialists.The market allowance for Visiting Medical Specialists will be revised with the upcoming renegotiation of the Tasmanian Visiting Medical Practitioners Agreement 2019.Maximum employed FTE under the VMP award is 0.47.$210,000 to $301,349 pro rata, per annum
A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.
Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $210,000 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $288,000 with further salary increments available.
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $291,472 - $301,349 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) AwardAdditional Allowances under the Medical Practitioners Award Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle OR allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $27,535 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly (with CPI indexation on 1 July each year).Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,000 pro rata per annum.On call allowance % of Base Salary.All other allowances as per current Award.And subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of Base salary plus on-call, pro rata) of additional payment will be paid from (PPS). The Hospital provides most specialist medical services for the State of Tasmania.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Urologist, with a passion for Urology service provision, to live and work in the beautiful State of Tasmania. The role will provide clinical services of the highest possible standard for Urology patients and actively pursue improved outcomes for Urology patients by participating in teaching and research relevant to Urological services.
To be a strong candidate for the role you will hold specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Fellow of the Royal Australasia College of Surgeons (Urology).
The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate:
A successful track record of clinical service provision as a Urologist.The ability to manage patients within the discipline of Urology and the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.Proven capacity for undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and the ability to undertake research activities; andThe ability to communicate effectively and maintain good interpersonal relationships in dealing with patients, their relatives, and professional colleagues.The incumbent is required to:
Work as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team to provide the highest possible standard of urological clinical services to patients.Take part in the on-call roster and undertake call-back work.Work outside normal hours conducting weekend ward rounds as required.Actively pursue improved outcomes for urology patients by participating in teaching and research relevant to the Urology Department.Who are we? Permanent, full-time day work (with on-call), working 76 hours per fortnight, commencement date is negotiable by arrangement.
