Join the dynamic Medical Unit at the Kirketon Road Centre (KRC) supporting the provision of comprehensive medical and psychosocial services to marginalised populations.You will work in a multidisciplinary team consisting of doctors, nurses, counsellors and health education officers, to address clients' often complex medical and psychosocial needs. The purpose of this position is to provide high quality medical care to some of Sydney's most marginalised populations, to provide clinical oversight to registrars, residents and nurses, to support the training needs of registrars, and to participate as part of the medical unit in research, audit and quality improvement as required.The Kirketon Road Centre (KRC) is a targeted primary health care service located in Kings Cross, which is involved in the prevention, treatment and care of HIV and other transmissible infections among people who inject drugs, people who sex work and 'at risk' young people. KRC also serves people from Aboriginal, LGBTQI+ and homeless communities. KRC is part of SHBBV Services.This position is suitable for a staff specialist in sexual health medicine or addiction medicine with experience in primary care.The specialist will provide expert medical assessment and management of patients within the department/service.All applications must include a demonstration of your ability to meet each of the selection criteria in order to progress through the recruitment process:Registration or eligible for registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine or Chapter of Addiction Medicine or Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine or Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians with specialisation relevant to the clinical demands of the role.Proven experience in the provision of effective high-quality addiction and/or sexual health, HIV medicine, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in community or primary health settings, and involved in quality improvement activities relevant to the specialty.Demonstrated experience in the provision of primary care to marginalised populations.Demonstrated commitment to teaching with experience in teaching both undergraduate and post graduate students and a multidisciplinary team.Demonstrated experience in and commitment to research relevant to the role and needs of KRC.Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team.Demonstrated understanding of the harm reduction approach to illicit drug-related and/or sexual health issues and how this affects clinical care.This is a Category A position.
