Join our team as a Respiratory and Sleep Physician at Launceston General Hospital! Launceston General Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Respiratory and Sleep Physician to join the dynamic and expanding team. The hospital is a regional centre providing inpatient and outpatient care for respiratory and sleep patients, with a high prevalence of lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pulmonary infections, tuberculosis, pulmonary fibrosis, and sleep disorders. The hospital features an intensive care unit, acute medical unit, and provides ward-based non-invasive ventilation, bronchoscopy (including endobronchial ultrasound), and pleural procedures. The respiratory unit provides comprehensive services supported by a registrar, resident medical officer, and allied health staff.
The successful applicant will be required to provide clinical services for the Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine. Candidates should demonstrate skills and experience in inpatient and outpatient care, bronchoscopy (preferably including linear and radial endobronchial ultrasound), pleural ultrasound, and other advanced procedures. Participation in quality assurance activities, educational meetings, and multidisciplinary meetings is expected. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with medical staff, nursing, allied health staff, and to supervise junior registrars and resident medical officers.

Details of AppointmentPermanent day worker position with on-call duties, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as the candidate is available. Hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full-time and part-time vacancies.Specialist Medical PractitionersSpecialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $210,000 - $310,349 per annum, pro rata + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging.
Access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $291,472 - $301,349 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2, or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022.In addition, the following allowances may be available:
Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $28,389 per annum, pro rata.Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 per annum, pro rata.Relocation and commencement support available up to $15,000 for approved appointees.Ability to salary package.Other allowances as per award and 2022 Agreement.Essential CriteriaHolds specialist registration.Registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) on the specialist pathway.Registered Medical Practitioner who is an IMG with a recognised overseas specialist qualification and assessed as having sufficient experience in the specialty.The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job must satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment.
