The Position:This is an incredible opportunity to work as a full time or part time, permanent Anaesthetist at Central Queensland's largest hospital.
As a senior member of the anaesthetic team, you will be responsible for pre- and peri-operative anaesthetic care of patients and will have input into the management of patients in the High Dependency Unit and in emergency situations when on duty.The department is an accredited training facility and thus you will be required to supervise Principal House Officers, Junior House Officers and Interns, Registrars and Provisional Fellows.
The range of services delivered to Central Queenslanders continues to grow as does the Anaesthesia service. As a result, more specialists are needed to support the growing population
The Location:Located in Central Queensland, this location enjoys a tropical climate with warm to hot temperatures throughout the year. The city is situated on the Fitzroy River and is surrounded by natural beauty and picturesque landscapes. If you enjoy the warmer weather and outdoor activities, then this could be the location for you. The region offers stunning coastal areas including the nearby Capricorn Coast and Great Keppel Island, which are popular tourist destinations. You can explore national parks, go fishing, camping, or engage in water sports along the coast. The Great Barrier Reef is also within reach, offering opportunities for diving and snorkelling adventures.
This region has a strong and diverse economy, with key industries such as agriculture, mining, and tourism. It is the administrative and commercial hub for central Queensland, providing employment opportunities across various sectors.
The city also has well-established education and healthcare facilities. There are several schools, including public and private institutions, along with a university campus.
The city offers a friendly and close-knit community atmosphere and hosts various cultural events, festivals, and markets throughout the year, providing opportunities for socialising and community engagement. The Facility:The 305 bed, large hospital is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland. The facility provides public health services across Central Queensland to a growing population of approximately 250,000 people and employ more than 3,700 staff, treating more than 700,000 patients each year.To reflect the growing demand for health care in the region, the hospital has been redeveloped, and now boasts state of the art medical equipment.
The hospital has four operating theatres and two procedure rooms. The operating theatre complex is supported by an 8-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU)/High Dependency Unit (HDU). The Department is accredited for specialist training and is involved in teaching and research. The Hospital Anaesthesia team provides great care for obstetrics, gynaecology, orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, Ear Nose and Throat (ENT), ophthalmology, gastroenterology, and dental procedures. It delivers a preadmission clinic and acute pain rounds and provides sedation for medical procedures.
The hospital provides specialist services that include emergency, general medicine, general surgery, gastroenterology, gynaecology, cardiology, mental health, maternity, medical oncology, paediatrics, palliative care, orthopaedics, rheumatology, occupational therapy, social work, urology and many other specialty areas.
Eligibility:Hold the FANZCA or postgraduate qualifications and experience in anaesthetics which meet ANZCA requirements for practising in this position or,

NZ FANZCA or,
IMG with training assessed by ANZCA and a substantially comparable outcome
