Staff Specialist (Orthopaedic Surgeon) (600489) The Royal Hobart Hospital and Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is seeking interest from suitably qualified and experienced applicants for a Staff Specialist – Orthopaedic Surgeon vacancy.

As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions.
The RHH Department of Orthopaedic Surgery offers services in the major Orthopaedic sub-specialty areas (with the exception of spinal surgery).
Depending upon the qualifications and interest of the incumbent, there may also be the opportunity to be involved with other teaching and research activities.
The Orthopaedic General and Trauma Surgery Fellow will be a member of Surgical Services, and the role will involve a mix of four key objectives: Undertaking approved Orthopaedic surgical in-patient and out-patient services.
Participation in Consultant after-hours rosters.
Provision of leadership and mentoring for junior staff including surgical RMOs and registrars.
Assisting with quality improvement, audit and service improvement within Surgical Services.

Details of Appointment Fixed term full-time day work (with on-call), working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 1 February 2026.
Minimum Requirements: Holds specialist registration.
Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) on the specialist pathway.
Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an IMG with a recognised overseas specialist qualification and assessed as having sufficient experience in the specialty.
