John Hunter Hospital is seeking applications from exceptional physicians to join our dynamic General Medicine department and help shape the future of patient care across our district and communities. About the Role: Permanent and temporary opportunities (full-time or part-time) or Visiting Medical Officer positions available for the right candidate(s) Applicants should hold a primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) in General Medicine and/or Geriatric Medicine with dual qualifications desirable Candidates within six months of completing their RACP Fellowship will be considered Overseas applicants with equivalent qualifications eligible for RACP registration are also welcome Why Join Us: John Hunter Hospital, the largest facility in Hunter New England Local Health District, boasts approximately 650 beds and is a Level 6 tertiary referral, major trauma, and teaching hospital, serving over 1 million people. Brings comprehensive, recent experience in General Medicine and/or Geriatric Medicine Delivers patient-focused clinical services for inpatients, ED patients, and outpatients at John Hunter Hospital and Belmont District Hospital Provides clinical leadership to junior colleagues, ensuring evidence-based, best-practice patient care Demonstrates a commitment to equitable healthcare delivery Participates actively in teaching, research, and quality improvement programs Engages in relevant committees, planning groups, and working parties From April 2024, you may also work at the John Hunter Hospital Medicine wards, temporarily located at Maitland Hospital, due to the construction of the new John Hunter Hospital Innovation Precinct (expected completion in 2026).
