The Position We are currently seeking a suitably qualified Staff Specialist in General Medicine vacancy for a permanent position in Tasmania.
We are looking for applicants who are passionate about practicing holistic general medicine, teaching, and mentoring of junior medical staff, and contributing to quality improvement in a growing general medicine department.
General medicine is the largest inpatient department in the hospital with excellent subspecialty support and opportunities for clinicians to be involved in research, clinical redesign, and quality improvement. Staff specialists are actively involved in the training of basic and advanced physician trainees and the supervision of international medical graduates. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of an evolving department and contribute to positive change in the Tasmanian health system.
Health Service You will be based at the tertiary referral hospital for Tasmania, and the principal teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania School of Medicine. The Hospital provides most specialist medical services for the region and state. The Emergency Department has direct access to all medical and surgical specialities and has approximately 75,000 presentations per year. The Department has in excess of 250 staff, consisting of medical, nursing, allied health, clerical, aides, and orderlies.
Essential Criteria You will have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in General and Acute Medicine. Demonstrated ability to provide services within General Medicine at a tertiary referral teaching hospital. Demonstrated capacity for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Ability to communicate effectively and maintain good interpersonal relationships. Knowledge of recent advances in relevant medical area. The Package Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $210,000 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $288,000 with further salary increments available.
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $291,472 - $301,349 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle (subject to working full-time hours for at least three years) OR allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $27,535 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly (with CPI indexation on 1 July each year).
Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,000 pro rata per annum.
Relocation allowance.
On-call allowance % of Base Salary.
