Launceston General Hospital invites applications to fill the role of Staff Specialist - General Medicine/Acute Care Services (504657).
The Launceston General Hospital is located in stunning Northern Tasmania and is affiliated with the University of Tasmania Clinical School. The Department of General Medicine is staffed with a diverse team of specialists, as well as Advanced Trainees in General and Acute Care Medicine and Basic Physician Trainees. A variety of workplace settings are available, including: acute medicine; inpatient medical wards; outpatient clinics; stroke; and intermediate care.
Details of AppointmentPermanent, day worker with on call position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing on a mutually agreed date (notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant).
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies. Specialist Medical Practitioners Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 - Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3: $210,000 - $310,349 per annum, pro rata + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging.
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $291,472 - $301,349 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $25,758 per annum, pro rata.Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 per annum, pro rata.Relocation and commencement support available up to $15,000 for approved appointees.Other allowances as award applicable.Essential CriteriaSuccessful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
Holds specialist registration; orIs a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) on the specialist pathway; orIs a registered Medical Practitioner who is an IMG with a recognised overseas specialist qualification and sufficient experience in the specialty.Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role. It is the employee's responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. Desirable CriteriaApplicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
Experience in acute stroke care including thrombolysis.Experience or interest in intermediate care models including hospital avoidance programs would also be beneficial.The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job must satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment.
