The Royal Hobart Hospital and Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for Staff Specialist – Emergency Medicine vacancies.

The Emergency Department has direct access to all medical and surgical specialities; and has approximately 75,000 presentations per year.
The Department has more than 250 staff, consisting of medical, nursing, allied health, clerical, aides, and orderlies.
The Emergency Department is staffed by specialists, registrars, nurses, and clinical support staff who work together as a dynamic team with strong focus on collegiality.
The Role Provide specialist emergency care to public and private patients attending the Emergency Department (ED) at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH). Be involved in research and quality improvement activities, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at RHH. Provide specialist advice to inpatient units as required. Salary Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.
Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $216,300 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $296,640 with further salary increments available.
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 - $310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle (subject to working full-time hours) OR allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $28,389 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly (with CPI indexation on 1 July each year). Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 pro rata per annum. Relocation allowance. On call allowance % of Base Salary. All other allowances as per current Award. Details of Appointment Fixed term appointments, both full-time and part-time day work (with on-call) available, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for 2 years.
