Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking Staff Specialists in Anaesthetics to join our team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital!
We are looking for Staff Specialists in Anaesthetics. The primary purpose of the role is to provide high quality clinical services in Anaesthesia, and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Anaesthetics Department and Hospital as required. The Staff Specialist will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.
This is a Staff Specialist position in Anaesthesia in a Level 6 Adult Hospital caring for high acuity and complexity patients. The Staff Specialist will be part of a cohesive anaesthetic team who provides specialist anaesthetic services to a broad range of specialities. This role will involve collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure clinical services provided are safe and achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Depending on the skills and experience there may be an opportunity to participate in the cardiothoracic anaesthetic service. The Staff Specialist may also be credentialed to provide anaesthesia services to the Institute of Rheumatology and Orthopaedics, Professor Marie Bashir Centre and Sydney Dental Hospital.
In addition to core anaesthetic duties, specific roles within the department are:
Anaesthetist with interest and expertise in Perioperative Medicine: This anaesthetist would have additional qualifications in Perioperative Medicine such as being a Graduate of the Chapter of Perioperative Medicine (GChPOM). They would have experience in developing perioperative policy and procedure documents.
Anaesthetist with interest and expertise in Quality Assurance, Training and Education: This anaesthetist would have experience in organising departmental quality assurance activities, involvement in hospital-wide quality assurance activities, and involvement in trainee education.
Anaesthetist with interest and expertise in Acute Pain Management and Regional Anaesthesia: This anaesthetist would have experience in conducting acute pain rounds and be highly skilled in performing regional blocks for acute pain management. Post graduate qualifications in Pain Medicine would be preferred but are not essential.
Anaesthetist with interest and expertise in Cardiac Anaesthesia: This anaesthetist would have post-fellowship training in Cardiac Anaesthesia, be proficient in transoesophageal echocardiography, demonstrate a commitment to learn Medical Perfusion and contribute to ECMO activity.
The successful applicant will be registered or eligible for specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
