What you'll be doing The staff specialist will provide clinical leadership and expertise across a range of substance use disorders including assessment, pharmacotherapy, withdrawal management, Substance Use in Pregnancy and Parenting, relapse prevention, referral and consultation with key treatment providers (including GP's). The Staff Specialist will work in a multi-disciplinary team to provide care using a range of technologies including telephone and videoconferencing.
Provide contemporary comprehensive specialist services for optimal patient outcomes.
Provide and support training to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice.
This is a Category A position. Recommended applicants will be reviewed for compliance with NSW Health policy directive for Category A positions prior to offer. Salary will be accordance with NSW Health State Awards for the advertised classification/s. These awards are available at NSW Health Conditions.
Selection Criteria Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Addiction Medicine, Addiction Psychiatry and/or overseas trained comparability pathways.Possess Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine, Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (RANZCP) and have completed 2 years of Advanced (Stage 3) Training in Addiction Psychiatry or deemed eligible by RANZCP or RACP for a substantial comparability placement for overseas trained doctors.Demonstrated contemporary knowledge, skills, and high standards of clinical practice in addiction medicine commensurate with experience which is appropriate to the requirements of the position.Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated commitment to, and experience in, teaching, continuing education, research, and quality improvement.Availability to participate in an on-call roster.Demonstrated leadership skills that support and foster innovation to create a learning culture, with proven ability to improve the quality of services and patient care outcomes.Current NSW Driver's License and willingness to travel.Need more information?
