About the Role:
Mental Health, Justice Health and Alcohol and Drug Services (MHJHADS) provides support to youth and adults via inpatient and outpatient settings, community health centres, justice health facilities and other community settings, including people's homes. MHJHADS aims to be socially inclusive and operate within a recovery-focussed and/or harm minimisation approach.
We are seeking a dynamic forward-thinking General Practitioner (GP) to work with our Eating Disorders Program. The position is primarily at our new Eating Disorder Residential Treatment Centre however there will be opportunities to work at the outpatient Eating Disorders Hub. The successful candidate will work closely with a Psychiatrist and specialist multidisciplinary team to provide care for people with eating disorders.
The successful applicant will have general practice experience and skills in community and residential care; preferably they will have some experience in working with people with eating disorders. The applicant will provide general practice medical services, physical and mental health assessment, clinical leadership, and expert opinion, consultation, and liaison. This position will be required to work across the life span, subspecialty, and service setting.
The position holder will also be actively involved in professional development, training, supervision, quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to the multidisciplinary team. The role will be expected to participate in the mandatory administrative, governance and training requirements of medical officers within the Division.
The position holder is expected to operate within the Public Sector Management Act (1994), the ACT Public Service Code of Conduct and the professional requirements specified by the appointee's Specialist College. The position will be accountable and responsible to the Clinical Director of CAMHS through an Individual Strengths, Engagement and Development Plan.
Strong research links are maintained with the ANU, University of Canberra and the Australian Catholic University. All specialties are represented with the exception of organ transplantation. The hospital has well-developed post graduate teaching programs. A fully equipped medical library is available on site with a large collection of hard copy and online journals and textbooks.
The preferred candidate may be considered for a conjoint position in ANU at an academic level commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. The academic position will be held for the duration of the Canberra Health Services employment and will be subject to regular performance reviews. No remuneration is attached to the University position. The employee will be responsible to the University on academic matters and to The Canberra Hospital & Health Services / Canberra Health Services for clinical/research matters.

Meet credentialing requirements and receive an Endorsed scope of clinical practice from the Medical Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC)

Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.
