Role Rationale:
The Network & Systems Engineer is part of St. Philip's Christian Education Foundation Ltd's ICT Services Department and is based in the Central Office. This position comes under the direction of the Director of Technology or their delegate. The Network & Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and security of the organisation's network systems. This position demands a proactive approach to identifying and addressing technical issues, ensuring minimal disruption to the organisation's operations.
The Network & Systems Engineer will be instrumental in implementing and maintaining network solutions that align with the organisation's goals and objectives. By working collaboratively with the Director of Technology, Senior Network Engineer and other team members, this role supports the mission of providing a robust and secure IT environment that facilitates the efficient functioning of the schools under the Foundation's umbrella.
The Network & Systems Engineer will assist the ICT Team in the following ways:
Personal Christian Life: Promotes the vision and ethos of the organisation and its schools. Maintains an active involvement in a local Christian evangelical fellowship. Attends and participates in staff devotions and prayer meetings. Participates in professional development relating to the philosophy and practice of Christian Education. Key Responsibility Areas: Cybersecurity: Proactively monitor and respond to security incidents and threats. Conduct regular security audits and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Participate in incident response and problem management activities. Promote a cyber aware culture with the SPCE organisation. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Develop and maintain comprehensive disaster recovery plans and ensure systems and networks are resilient. Regular verification and testing of the organisation's backup and disaster recovery plans. Emerging Technologies: Explore and implement AI, machine learning, and IoT solutions to enhance network and system operations. Network Support: Support the Senior Network Engineer with all duties required including: Ensuring network security issues are identified, escalated and resolved in the most efficient and effective way possible using a mix of short-term workarounds and network architecture design changes. The design and delivery of suitable network solutions across the SPCE environment, balancing security requirements alongside operational efficiency and industry best practice. Ensuring all network documentation is up to date, reviewed and maintained on a regular basis and stored in a fit for purpose location. Conducting system performance monitoring and optimisation. Identifying innovative service improvements that provide additional value to network solutions. The installation, configuration and maintenance of network related software and infrastructure such as Wi-Fi, Switching, Servers, Firewalls, CCTV, Telephony and Security. Systems Administration: Support the Senior Network Engineer with all duties required including: The design, implementation, and management of identity and access management systems to ensure secure and authorised access to organisational resources. Coordinating with IT suppliers to ensure timely resolution of issues, requests, changes and where required, management of escalations. Coordination of licensing and support renewals for all network related hardware and software with third party vendors. Implementing and maintaining system security measures, such as access controls, patch management, and antivirus software. Managing and optimising cloud infrastructure, including services like M365, Azure, and SAAS applications. Implement and manage security measures for cloud-based systems. Standard Operating Environment Maintenance: Support the Senior Network Engineer with all duties required including: The creation and maintenance of windows-based images and the deployment methodology of those images. The creation, maintenance and recording of Apple based distribution images and packages within JAMF Pro. Assisting with the deployment and development of patch management for all technological assets. End User Support: Assist with the development, installation and configuration of both desktop and laptop devices. Provide IT support to all members of the Central Office. Provide relevant advice and support to the SPCC ICT Services teams as necessary and under the direction of the Director of Technology. Provide advice and training to end users as to effectively achieve outcomes with technology. General Administration: Under supervision maintain and process relevant insurance and repair documentation to all stakeholders for the organisations fleet of technological devices. Record, log and update all repairs and stakeholder interaction in the organisation service/helpdesk environment and laptop management portal. Communicate effectively with stakeholders via these systems in a timely manner. Maintain good record keeping, documentation and change management processes. Assist in the development of ICT related training packages for wider organisational stakeholder groups. Maintain a clean working environment, including all data centres and storage facilities. Other duties as required. Workers WHS Responsibilities: Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace. Key Relationships:
Director of Technology, Senior Network Engineer, Applications Manager, Applications Analyst, Project Manager, Application Developer, Service Delivery Manager, Lead Technicians and ICT Staff, other members of the Central Office Team, administrative staff and general school staff in all schools.
Authority:
Reporting to the Director of Technology, the incumbent contributes to the efficient and effective operation of the Central Office ICT Services Team to deliver a quality customer focused, value creation service.
At all times the incumbent is required to comply with organisation policies and procedures.

Skills and Experiences: Qualifications and Experience: Diploma of IT Networking, or equivalent industry experience. (Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology desirable). Minimum of 2 years experience in an ICT role. Industry certifications in relevant technologies, such as Microsoft, Aruba Networking, Aruba ClearPass, JAMF, Palo Alto Networks, Crowdstrike Falcon, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Azure will all be looked at favourably. Experience in working as part of a large helpdesk team providing network engineering support to other IT professionals. Proficiency in using IT service management tools to resolve requests, incidents and problems. A passion for education and technology, and a commitment to the school's vision, mission, and values.
