About the Role We are seeking a full-time Maths Teacher Secondary for an ongoing position commencing in Semester 1, 2025. The position of Head of House will also be considered for the right applicant. Position Overview The Mathematics Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality mathematics instruction to students specifically in Year 12 Essentials and Year 11 Applications in the secondary school, as well as 3 lower school mathematics.
Key Responsibilities Teaching and Curriculum Development Plan, prepare, and deliver well-structured mathematics lessons that align with the school's curriculum and educational standards. Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate the diverse learning needs and abilities of students. Design and implement effective formative and summative assessments to evaluate student learning. Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance learning outcomes. Classroom Management Establish a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and maintaining high standards of behavior. Promote respect, responsibility, and independence among students. Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing timely feedback to students and parents/guardians. Student Support and Engagement Offer additional academic support to students as needed, including remedial or extension opportunities. Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their passion for mathematics and building their confidence in the subject. Participate in extracurricular activities or tutoring programs that support student learning and development in mathematics. Professional Development Stay up to date with developments in mathematics education, attending professional development workshops and contributing to the school's academic development. Collaborate with other teachers and departments to align curriculum and teaching strategies. Communication and Reporting Maintain clear and regular communication with parents, guardians, and other staff regarding student progress and any concerns. Participate in parent-teacher meetings, providing detailed feedback on students' academic performance and areas for improvement. Key Requirements Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in mathematics or a related field. A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., Graduate Diploma of Education, Master of Teaching). Valid teacher registration with Teachers Registration Board. Skills and Experience: Proven experience teaching mathematics to secondary school students (Years 7-12). Strong understanding of the mathematics curriculum, assessment methods, and pedagogy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong classroom management and organizational abilities. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment. Passion for mathematics and enthusiasm for teaching students of varying abilities. Ability to incorporate technology and innovative teaching techniques into the classroom. Commitment to ongoing professional learning and development.
