Key job responsibilities Use machine learning and analytical techniques to create scalable solutions for business problems Analyze and extract relevant information from large amounts of Amazon's historical business data to help automate and optimize key processes Design, develop and evaluate highly innovative models for predictive learning Work closely with software engineering teams to drive model implementations and new feature creations Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analysis, model development, model validation and model implementation Research and implement novel machine learning and statistical approaches Mentor junior scientists; review their work and provide feedback
About the team Our mission is to delight every Amazon customer with a personalized shopping experience. We achieve our mission through investments in large scale machine learning, distributed systems and user experience with the purpose of delivering the future of shopping on Amazon. We are seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to build personalized search-based recommendations and evaluate the quality of our personalized recommendation in Amazon-wide scale. Minimum Requirements PhD and 5+ years of applied research experience, or Master's degree and 10+ years of applied research experience 3+ years of experience building and launching deep learning and machine learning models for business applications Excellent coding and design skills, proficiency with programming languages such as C/C++, Java, or Python Several publications at top-tier peer-reviewed research conferences or journals Served as Program Committee member in at least one top tier conference
Additional Qualifications Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy, etc. Experience with information retrieval, recommender systems, and/or personalization algorithms Solid knowledge of big data and cloud technologies (e.g., Spark, AWS, etc.) Publications at top Web, Search, Machine Learning, Natural-Language Processing, Computer Vision conferences such as KDD, WSDM, TheWebConf, SIGIR, ICML, NeurIPS, ACL, EMNLP, AAAI, CVPR, etc. Served as Senior Program Committee Member, organized workshops or tutorials at top conferences
