About the Role Baptcare has a professional Spiritual Care Team of over thirty Spiritual Care Coordinators working in all service areas. We are looking for an experienced, articulate and competent Spiritual Care Professional to work as a locum at locations primarily in Greater Melbourne, but also in regional/rural Victoria, and in Tasmania.
This is a Casual position.
The Spiritual Care Coordinator – Locum supports our Residential Aged Care facilities and In-Home Care teams during vacancies or whilst staff are on leave. Typically a deployment to a locum role will be from several weeks to several months. The focus of this position is carrying out short term spiritual and emotional care support for our elderly residents and clients in a residential facility or their homes, as well as some support of staff. The Locum is responsible for:
the provision of high-quality spiritual care
significant co-creative leadership with teams
effective supervision of spiritual care volunteers
supporting the co-ordination, resourcing, and development of initiatives with staff that facilitate the integration of spiritual care across the organisation
Key Selection Criteria An active personal faith and involvement in a faith community/church or support network
Mature spiritual and pastoral formation and capacity to reflect theologically on experience
Highly developed listening and interpersonal skills, demonstrating an understanding of person-centred care
Understanding of and demonstrated ability to work sensitively with individuals and faith/community groups from diverse religious, spiritual and cultural traditions
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the capacity to explain the practice and possibilities of spiritual care to people from varied backgrounds
Experience and/or special interest in working in cognitive decline, complex trauma, and palliative care contexts with older people
Experience in providing pastoral/spiritual care to people outside a faith community
Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work independently with minimum supervision, as well as part of an interdisciplinary team
Experience and skills in administrative duties, including data collection and reporting on outcomes
Competence in Microsoft Office and related software
Alignment and commitment to Baptcare's Mission, Vision and Values
Qualifications in Spiritual Care, Chaplaincy, or Theology
At least one unit of CPE/STFE or willingness to complete one at own cost within 12 months of employment
