SC5 Extensive knowledge and experience in working with children with intellectual disabilities SC6 Demonstrated ability to assess and write reports for children with intellectual disabilities Role The successful applicant will be: · Providing speech therapy services that meet the needs of the students, their families and school staff. · Providing speech pathology services that accord with the highest professional standard. · Providing a service that always respects the students as individuals and promotes their wellbeing. · An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee's position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher. Responsibilities Coordinate delivery of a range of support services across a school/s involving a range of work areas. Determine work priorities and approach with the school and management policy. Reference to senior management will generally only occur where there is a need to clarify policy, priorities or broad objectives prior to making appropriate decisions. Interpret and analyse data to inform and provide authoritative advice to senior management. Provide training and development for others in the adaption and application of professional fields. Manage the delivery of a professional support service/s at Sunshine SDS, including the development of practices that will guide the work of others, including teachers. Undertake advanced interventions in dealing with particularly complex cases that may require cross-profession or agency collaboration. Our school is divided into two sub-schools: Primary and Secondary. The school is home to students from diverse nationalities and cultural backgrounds. We have many Vietnamese families, and we welcome an increasing number of Burmese and African families into our school community. Sunshine SDS has an enrolment of 200 students. Our staff comprises of and a staff compliment of 4 Principal Class Officers, 4 Leading Teachers, 4 Learning Specialists, 26 Teachers and 73 Education Support Staff.
