Hume Valley School is a special school with a current enrolment of 372 students from 5 to 18 years of age.

The individually planned programs are based on the student's abilities, strengths and interests with particular emphasis on English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Personal and Social Capabilities.Specialist programs are provided in the areas of Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Instrumental Music, Physical Education and Inter School Sport, Traffic Safety Education, Outdoor Education, Food Technology, Gardening and environmental sustainability (Prep to Year 9) and Horticulture (Years 10 to 12), Media & Design, Independent Living Skills, Health & Safety, Careers Education and Vocational Training.All programs focus on the development of literacy and numeracy skills, behaviour and social skills, creative and recreation skills and for older students, independence and work/industry skills.

SC1 Capacity to reflect upon personal practice, evaluate and instigate further professional development to continually improve their professional competence.SC2 Appropriate experience as a speech pathologist delivering a comprehensive speech pathology service to children between the ages 5 to 18 in an educational environment.SC3 Appropriate qualifications i.e.
four years approved study and an approved qualification in speech pathology acceptable for membership of Speech Pathology Australia.SC4 Demonstrates highly developed communication and interpersonal skills to work with staff and parents/carers as a team member and act as a resource person in the area of Speech Pathology and severe language disorder.Responsibilities
Manage the delivery of support services to students, teachers and parents in collaboration with the therapy team.Support service includes integrated service delivery model within a response to intervention framework, working alongside teaching staff to increase accessibility to the curriculum where it pertains to speech-language pathology services, assessment of communication abilities of primary aged students as needed.Provide consultative support for teaching staff as needed including developing and delivering professional development, developing visual resources, and upskilling staff in various areas of communication.Complete assessments and reports for Program for Students with Disability funding reviews.Support the implementation of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems in the classroom as appropriate.Maintain data and reports using an online database.Liaise with appropriate external therapists as required.Who May Apply
Has a relevant degree or equivalent in Speech Pathology.Eligible for membership of relevant professional body (Speech Pathology Australia).Must have a current Working with Children's Check.Individuals with the aptitude, experience and qualifications to fulfil the specific requirements of the position.New graduate Speech Pathologists are welcome and encouraged to apply for this position.EEO AND OHS Commitment
