As part of our AQ School, the day in the life of a Speech Pathologist will look different day-to-day. You will work with teachers and teacher aides and their classes of 6 - 8 students across the school in a range of different ways. You could be running small group sessions in a classroom or in the playground, recommending flexible seating options or classroom modifications, working with students to set their own goals, or providing information where needed for parents, families, and other professionals.
In our EarlyAQtion team, your role could be similar to the school but with kindy-aged children focusing more on leading our play-based early childhood intervention services.
With the AQ Therapy Team, you will assess and treat speech, language, and swallowing issues, create personalised treatment plans, work with clients one-on-one and in groups, collaborate with other healthcare professionals, keep accurate client records, and educate clients and their families about treatment options.
These positions would best suit an experienced practitioner with a confident and empathetic communication style. The above roles will all include an element of reporting, including preparing and maintaining assessment, observation, meeting, and progress records as required.
