We deliver innovative and flexible services to empower people to thrive and live a great life, and we are committed to a philosophy that respects the rights of individuals to make informed choices about their lives.About the roleBased in Darwin (NT), we are looking for a Speech Pathologist to deliver specialist services to adults with complex swallowing and communication needs.
You will work as part of our multi-disciplinary Therapy Services team, to deliver person-centred services to enhance participation and independence, empowering people with a disability to live a full life and achieve their goals.
You will also have the opportunity to be part of our remote clinical team and deliver speech pathology services across remote communities in the Top End and Central Australia.Responsibilities include:Working in a culturally diverse environment, providing a contemporary, evidence-based speech pathology service, including assessment, treatment planning and evaluation, for people presenting with a wide range of conditions and syndromes, with a focus on dysphagia and swallowing disordersWorking with clients and their representatives to identify individualised goals and preferences, developing dysphagia, mealtime management, and/or communication plansSelecting, developing, and tailoring augmentative and alternative communication systems, programs and resources for participants with communication needsLeading and contributing to the development of individual and group programs within Carpentaria Therapy Service areasAbout youThis position is open to candidates seeking either full-time or part-time employment.
We are looking for someone with experience in the delivery of speech pathology services within a disability sector context, with a focus on dysphagia and swallowing disorders, and the ability to develop individualised strategies and clinical management plans that are responsive to the person's needs and in line with their goals.You will have a positive attitude and be adaptive and flexible to the changing needs of clients, NDIS and the organisation.
Throughout your work you will build on strengths, and where challenges arise, you will approach them collaboratively, in partnership with families, carers, teachers and colleagues.In addition, you will be able to demonstrate:Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and current Certification with Speech Pathology AustraliaMinimum 2 years of clinical experience with adult caseload including experience working with people with specialised or complex needs and disabilityWell-developed interpersonal, communication, negotiation and influencing skillsDemonstrated clinical competency and experience in conducting assessments and writing high quality individualised assessment and program reportsYou will also need to hold (or have the ability to obtain) a current Ochre Card, Criminal History Check, NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, First Aid certificate, evidence of Australian work rights, and an NT Drivers Licence.Why work with us?We provide a positive work environment that encourages and promotes work/life balance, a sense of humour and having fun.
