The Program Manager: Planned Giving (Bequests) is a crucial role within the Fundraising team and a vital strategic role within the broader Marketing and Fundraising Team. The purpose of this role is to develop, implement and review the strategic direction of the Gift in Wills (bequest) program for Guide Dogs and VisAbility WA to align with the broader objectives of the organisation.
The Program Manager is responsible for expanding and managing the organisations planned giving programs for both Guide Dogs and VisAbility WA, ensuring adherence to industry best practice standards. This role will identify and cultivate bequest prospects to build a sustainable portfolio of confirmed bequests, maintaining relationships with existing and prospective bequestors, executors and trustees and other key external and internal stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
In consultation with Senior Manager Fundraising, set annual targets for the Guide Dogs and VisAbility WA bequest programs, including developing strategies to identify, cultivate and confirm new bequest prospects. Responsible for line-managing the Senior Officer Planned Giving (Bequests) to ensure delivery against agreed objectives and alignment with best practice industry standards. Ensure the timely execution of bequests left to the organisation according to legal and ethical standards and complying with donor wishes/intent. Working in collaboration with the Senior Officer Planned Giving (Bequests) and Stewardship Coordinator, identify and deliver stewardship opportunities to maintain relationships with an existing portfolio of confirmed bequestors. Proactively identify strategies to engage potential bequest prospects from the organisation's database and other appropriate sources. Speak at relevant events and industry networking events where suitable. Provide regular reports to the Senior Manager Fundraising and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for the Board, Executive Team and CEO. Develop event and communication strategies to support stewardship and cultivation activity. Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years proven experience in bequest management, coordination and legacy giving, or major gift donations. Positive, collaborative and results-driven approach. Strong communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Comfortable with public speaking engagements. Excellent organisational abilities, time management and planning skills. Strong relationship-building and donor stewardship experience and skills. Passion for securing long-term support for Guide Dogs and VisAbility WA. The successful candidate will be required to provide a National Police Clearance and NDIS Worker Screening check.
