About the Role The Specialist: Systems Engineering role is responsible for maintaining the on-premises computer server hardware/software, public cloud computer workloads and end-user computing devices. The successful candidate will be providing operational management and support tasks to Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) central office and school sites.
This role works within a small team of Specialists responsible for providing effective and efficient technical support to the enterprise, maintaining ITS systems, applications and systems operation documentation in accordance with the SCS ITS operational processes and guidelines.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Administering, maintaining and supporting SCS ITS on-premises systems, cloud server workloads and end-user computing devices to meet agreed Service Level Agreements (SLA) and the Operational Level Agreements (OLA). Responding to ITS incidents and service requests via the ITS service management tool (ServiceNow). Advising on and contributing to the ITS change and management processes to ensure all affected stakeholders are aware. Ensuring regular audits are conducted and systems design and operational documentation is maintained. Serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for WinTel technical solutions and ensuring sound practices for new solutions and development implementations are in place. Monitoring and ensuring computer server hardware/software services operational metrics are meeting the agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Being the point of escalation for the EUC Administrator and working collaboratively on operational tasks. Being contactable and available to perform work outside normal working hours, in response to need and business continuity requirements. About You Australian Tertiary qualifications equivalent to AQF level 7 (Bachelor's degree) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology. ITIL v3/v4 Foundation Certificate. Demonstrated success and at least 5 years' experience in the support and operational management of the following technologies:
- Windows servers and Windows 10/11 operating systems
- Linux Operating System
- VMWare infrastructure management
- Active Directory and Group Policy Objects
- DHCP, DNS and IIS. Proven extensive experience in performing server administration and operations. Demonstrated practical knowledge and experience in server virtualisation technologies. Demonstrated technical documentation skills – HLD (High-level design), LLD (Low-level design) and business logic workflow. Willingness to respect, support and uphold the mission, ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of Sydney Catholic Schools. A valid NSW driver's licence.
