A job to be proud of: St John WA are looking for experienced and motivated individuals to join us as Specialist Services Officers on our Specialist Services Desk (SSD), located in our newly built facility in Perth CBD.

Successful candidates will be part of a collaborative and engaging work environment, operating on a 224 roster .
This may involve variations in leave blocks and shift colours, providing a diverse and flexible experience.
As the Specialist Services Officer, you will manage the coordination of the Emergency Rescue Helicopter Services and the identification of potential cases for Special Operations Paramedics.
This includes the tasking and dispatching of these resources and follow up, throughout the state of Western Australia, in a timely and efficient manner while providing prompt service and appropriate information transfer.
The role will also ensure the identification and coordination of additional resource requirements during major incidents.
What you'll do: Identify, receive and action urgent and non-urgent requests for ERHS and special operations paramedic attendance Ensure correct and accurate identification and coordination of additional resource requirements during major incidents Organise the dispatch of helicopter, special operations paramedic and emergency management resources in an appropriate and timely manner that reflects the targets set for the ambulance service and/or external contract requirements Provide a prompt service and appropriate information transfer working to strict time frames Provide mission oversight of helicopter, special operations paramedic and emergency management taskings Develop effective communication with internal and external stakeholders Responsibility for determining and communicating a stand down to crew when all appropriate stand down criteria have been met Identify, compile and audit calls which fall into the category of a missed tasking whereby specialist response would have been appropriate, but not activated.
Review monthly specialist tasking report data Perform electronic recording of information requests on CAD, manual recording as required Develop a knowledge base of all localities within the state of Western Australia and the limitations of the helicopters.
What you'll need: Have a minimum three years' experience as an Ambulance Paramedic (AP1) or equivalent on-road operational classification (e.g.
Ambulance Officer, Paramedic Intern or Station Manager) Possess a high level of communication skills, both verbal and written Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and autonomously Integrity and a high level of confidentiality Sound experience in Microsoft Office suites High attention to detail Ability to remain calm, compassionate and professional while taking control of stressful situations Ability to effectively communicate during times of high stress and short time-frames The Process: Prospective candidates will need to submit their application online.
