About your potential new position:
Glencore is seeking a Specialist – Mine Rehabilitation and Closure for a 14-month fixed term to cover one of our team on leave. This is a great opportunity to develop and execute mine closure plans for Glencore's Zinc Assets in Australia.
Reporting to the Principal – Environmental Long Term Planning and Closure, your key role will be in the development and negotiation of progressive rehabilitation and closure plans for our Queensland mining assets, identifying innovative ways to successfully rehabilitate our sites.
This is a fixed-term, full-time position based in either Brisbane or Mount Isa. Some regular domestic travel will be required.
What your new position entails:
On a fixed-term (14 month) basis, you will oversee various projects, activities, and tasks focused on planning the rehabilitation and eventual closure of mines, ensuring compliance with appropriate standards, procedures, and frameworks.
Some of your exciting responsibilities will include: Project managing projects and tasks to meet schedule, budget, and stakeholder needs.Acting as the single point of contact on projects, coordinating multi-disciplinary inputs and a team of specialists.Steering technical aspects of studies, plans, and programs of work and providing advice on rehabilitation and closure-related requirements.Contributing to the strategic rehabilitation and closure management to deliver proactive solutions.Developing and maintaining effective relationships—both internal and external.Effectively collaborating with cross-functional, project, and site operational teams.Assisting in the development, analysis, benchmarking, and continuous improvement of processes.Undertaking definition, completion, quality assurance, and review of rehabilitation reporting to meet Corporate and external requirements. Our expectations are you: Have relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in line with the responsibilities.Offer demonstrated experience in delivering external-facing studies and documentation—ideally with recent experience with Progressive Rehabilitation and Closure Plans.Promote a positive culture.Hold yourself and others accountable, including vendors, service providers, and consultants.Oversee contractor performance.Exhibit collaborative team engagement, offering support, guidance, and development when required.Have shown you can build positive and enduring working relationships with regulatory bodies and external agencies.Possess well-developed interpersonal and negotiation skills.Demonstrated competence managing projects and studies, including:framing and scope definitionoptions analysis and selectionschedules and execution planningstakeholder engagement and managementbudget and resourceslessons learned and close-out.
