Specialist Medical Practitioner (526161)Job Type: Permanent position | Part time positionJob DescriptionThe role: Support the Statewide Specialty Director and the Assistant Director of Nursing in the development and provision of primary clinical health services such as Medical Tier 1 (MOT1) clinical assessment, review of pathological and radiological results, referral of urgent cases to the tertiary hospitals for treatment, and throughcare for prisoners getting released. Assist the Statewide Specialty Director in the provision of clinical leadership and direction for Correctional Primary Health Services in the area of primary health care.Clinical governance and legislative requirements determine clinical direction and are the responsibility of the medical profession in provision of the standard and quality of care. Work within a multidisciplinary health team to provide direct clinical services to patients within the correctional health setting across all sites. Assist the Statewide Specialty Director and staff to develop health screening, health promotion and health education programs.Assist the Statewide Specialty Director and the Assistant Director of Nursing in defining, collecting and evaluating data to aid the further development and operation of Correctional Primary Health Services. Undertake inspections of Tasmanian Prison Services required to meet legal requirements. Note: - Please refer to the Statement of Duties for all the selection criteria of this position to address in your application.The hospital/site/area/team: The Launceston Reception Prison temporarily houses remandee prisoners before they are transferred to the South, though there are a few long-term prisoners there. Ashley Youth Detention Centre is operated under the Department of Education but CPHS provides nursing and medical care for the young individuals resident there.Our medical on-call service covers both centres when there are no doctors present. Position Features: The job is located within a maximum-security prison and will work within site locations across the state of Tasmania.The occupant will have regular daily contact with prisoners in an environment which requires all staff to be alert to any matter concerning the security and safety of the prison, prisoners/detainees and staff. Some Interstate and Intrastate travel may be required. This position does not involve regular on-call work which is divided equally between the medical workforce including the Statewide Specialty Director.Contract terms and conditions to be negotiated. Staff employed against this Statement of Duties as a Visiting Medical Practitioner/Specialist will be employed in accordance with the Tasmanian Visiting Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Agreement and remunerated accordingly.Details of AppointmentPermanent, part time, day worker position working 15.2 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. *notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant. Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.Salary: $210,000- $301,349 per annum pro rata. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $291,472 -$301,349 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award. Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022. In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $28,389 per annum, pro rataContinuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 per annum, pro rataOther allowances as applicableEligibility:Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria: Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty. Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration. *Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment.It is the employee's responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
