About the Tasmanian State Service The Tasmanian State Service (TSS) is the largest employer in Tasmania, with over 28,000 employees providing services to the Tasmanian community at all levels.
Key Responsibilities Support the Statewide Specialty Director and the Assistant Director of Nursing in the development and provision of primary clinical health services. Assist the Statewide Specialty Director in the provision of clinical leadership and direction for Correctional Primary Health Services. Ensure clinical governance and legislative requirements are met. Work within a multidisciplinary health team to provide direct clinical services to patients within the correctional health setting. Assist in the development of health screening, promotion, and education programs. Assist in defining, collecting, and evaluating data for the operation of Correctional Primary Health Services. Undertake inspections of Tasmanian Prison Services to meet legal requirements. The hospital/site/area/team: The Launceston Reception Prison temporarily houses remandee prisoners before they are transferred. Ashley Youth Detention Centre operates under the Department of Education, providing nursing and medical care. The medical on-call service covers both centres when doctors are not present. Position Features The job is located within a maximum-security prison with regular contact with prisoners. Some Interstate and Intrastate travel may be required. This position does not involve regular on-call work. Contract terms and conditions are negotiable. Employment will be in accordance with the Tasmanian Visiting Medical Practitioners Agreement. Details of Appointment Permanent, part-time position working 15.2 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary: $210,000 - $301,349 per annum pro rata, with additional superannuation contributions.
Access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range is subject to meeting specific criteria.

Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance. Continuing Professional Development Allowance. Essential Criteria: Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty. Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration. Registration/licences must remain current during employment.
Desirable Criteria: Experience in a custodial environment. The Head of the State Service has determined that pre-employment checks will be conducted, including conviction checks.
