About the Role

The Water Planning team is currently seeking a Specialist Hydrogeologist to join their team on a full-time basis. The role is based in Brisbane but once a month travel to site within the Bowen Basin region will be required. You will have access to technology that will enable you to work flexibly.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Provide subject matter expert input to studies and projects carried out at the BMA operations.
Develop detailed hydrogeological conceptual models for use in groundwater risk assessments.
Design and install effective groundwater monitoring networks with a focus on protecting the natural environment.
Set and measure groundwater drilling compliance-to-plan metrics and develop improvement strategies where required to achieve drilling targets.
Improve the way groundwater related data is collected, stored and analysed to improve evaluation of groundwater risks, inform projects and inform plans for mine closure.
About You You will ideally possess the following skills and experience:
Extensive experience in hydrogeology.
Tertiary qualification in Geology, Science or Engineering (specialisation in Hydrogeology is highly desirable).
Demonstrated commitment to safety.
Exceptional interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to influence across multiple stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely to non-technical and leadership audiences.
Ability to think strategically and quickly grasp technical problems and business requirements.
Capability to design groundwater drilling and monitoring programs.
Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks related to groundwater management.
Experience in the mining industry and/or familiarity with the Qld Water Act and Environmental Protection Act is highly regarded.
