The role of the Specialist Employment Mentor will focus on supporting Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander customers by providing intensive mentoring to ensure their transition into employment is successful and sustained.
This role requires an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively in order to build trusting relationships.
It would be advantageous for the preferred candidate to identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander or have extensive experience working with customers within this cohort.
This role is being offered on a full-time, ongoing basis and will be based at Whyalla Norrie.
You'll also experience the work/life balance that comes with working a 9-day fortnight, with a dedicated and fixed day off every second week. You will still receive the remuneration of a full-time employee in addition to the ability to salary sacrifice. To be successful in the role you will be able to demonstrate:
Experience in working sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, while respecting traditional cultures and values; A strong passion and drive for helping people find sustainable and meaningful employment; Ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse range of clients, employers and staff; High level of interpersonal skills with an ability to represent Workskil Australia to our customers, funding bodies, employers, RTOs, Indigenous Communities and other stakeholders; Sound knowledge of the local labour market; An understanding of case management framework; Sales and customer service experience; Extensive working knowledge of federally funded Employment Programs and funding models; Proven ability to work in an outcome-based, high-pressure environment, positively and with enthusiasm; You will also be required to have:
Ability to use the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and ability to type (minimum 30 words per minute) Certificate IV in Employment Services or Career Development (Preferably) or willing to study Hold a current driver's licence and have own vehicle with the willingness to travel across the region. Remuneration
A competitive salary will be negotiated commensurate with skills and experience. As Workskil Australia is a public benevolent institution, we can also offer a portion of the salary through tax effective salary packaging.
