Specialist Domestic and Family Violence Advocate

based in

Mount Isa, QLD.This role reports to the Team Leader and involves providing specialist DFV support, including risk assessments, safety planning, case-management, and referrals. You will collaborate with local agencies to deliver innovative responses to DFV, contributing to our mission of eliminating domestic and family violence.Key Responsibilities:Providing trauma-informed crisis response, including risk and needs assessments and safety planningDelivering services grounded in a feminist analysis of the gendered nature of DFVCoordinating emergency accommodation and home safety upgradesLiaising with internal colleagues and external organisations to ensure holistic supportSupporting clients in navigating court processes and obtaining protection ordersParticipating in community education, awareness activities, and advocacyAbout You

To qualify, you will need a

tertiary qualification

in a relevant human services discipline and/or a minimum of

two years of professional experience

in a related field. A deep understanding of First Nations cultures and the impact of intergenerational trauma is essential.Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:Knowledge of current DFV legislation and best practicesStrong decision-making and case management skillsAbility to communicate complex information sensitively and effectivelyExperience working in a culturally competent manner with First Nations peoplesHigh competency with technology and record-keeping systemsA current QLD C Class Driver's License and Working with Children Check (Blue Card) is essentialAs our ideal candidate, you are supportive, collaborative, and able to work effectively with a diverse group of people.
