About The Role

Resource Development provides the geological and water knowledge to define orebodies to sustainability grow Rio Tinto.

The Resource Development Team is responsible for five core components and is made up of Planning, Geoscience, Water Resource Evaluation (WRE), Operations and Technical delivery. The team is made up of diverse skillsets including operators, drillers, field and survey assistants, geologists and hydrologists.

The Rio Tinto Resource Development Team is looking for Specialist – Contract Management in the Planning team.

The Planning team contributes to Resource Development objective by developing and enabling plans and governing plan delivery. The Planning Contract Management team's role is to support and strengthen contract partnerships, collaborate to develop longer term strategies, drive efficiencies through simplification and uplift overall contract performance.

The Specialist role is a great opportunity to showcase and develop your commercial and contract management skills where your talents will be exposed to the Resource Development team and the wider Rio Tinto Iron Ore business.

You'll be part of a supportive team, supported by your Leader to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team. You'll work Monday to Friday based in Perth which will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life.

Reporting to the Superintendent – Contract Management, Resource Development you will

Positively communicated the Resource Development vision and build strong and successful working relationships internally within with Rio Tinto and externally with Suppliers and Contract Partners
Proactive contract management of medium to high-risk contracts covering a range of services including drilling, pad construction, rehabilitation, geophysics logging and test pumping for Resource Development
Support improving supplier/contract partner performance in relation to its diversity and inclusion strategies e.g. female, local Pilbara and Indigenous and Torres Strait Islanders
Develop and implement contract management strategies, policies/guidelines to drive shared goals and objectives
Support development of strategies to uplift contract performance through quality scope development and management of contract key performance indicators (KPIs) e.g. safety and environment, production, diversity strategies
Contribute to the annual planning cycles including contract management data inputs and strategies ie annual, mid-long term
Lead and support process improvement projects and change management to embed and sustain new ways of working
Collaborate with Rio Tinto Procurement on overarching sourcing and contract strategies including project execution timelines, resource planning, tendering, commercial, contract claims and disputes.
Active role in providing expert contract management advice to planning, operational and technical teams including regular visits to the Pilbara
Participate with risk management, process compliance, audits and contract related investigation
Develop tools to train, coach and educate various stakeholders related to contract management activities at Rio Tinto
Lead and manage the Contract Management team in the absence of the Superintendent

Achieved tertiary qualifications e.g. Contracts, Procurement & Supply Chain, or similar and ideally, a minimum of 5 years' work experience post education
Showcase previous experience in working in large multi-disciplinary teams
Values based leaderships with solid commitment to safety, wellness, environment, heritage and community

It would be beneficial if you have

Member of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS), or willingness to work towards
Exceptional people skills with the ability to influence
Understanding of the end-to-end procurement and supply chain methodology
Experience in contract management and working with suppliers/contract partners including influencing and negotiation skills
Demonstrated ability for process improvement techniques

This is a Perth based role supporting our operations in the Pilbara with ad hoc travel to the site.
