Role Overview:This role centres on the coordination of the Mother and Child Program at the Mary Hutchinson Women's Prison under the provision of family and child supportive practices. Collaborating with external service providers to deliver services and programs to prisoners and their families.
Duties:Coordinate the provision of family and child supportive practices within the Tasmanian Prison Service (TPS).Coordinate the Mother and Child Program at the Mary Hutchinson Women's Prison (MHWP).Collaborate with external service providers on the provision of programs and services to prisoners and their families.Promote and develop policies, practices and resources within the TPS that provide support to prisoners who are the parents of young children.Work collaboratively within the TPS to promote the role of a prisoner's family in rehabilitation and reintegration.Implement strategies which conform to best practice in the area of family and child support within the corrections environment.Provide complex case management to prisoners in MHWP including the provision of family-related supports.Coordinate the operation of the Mother and Child Program including the application, assessment, and review process.Plan, develop, and evaluate parenting programs and services for prisoners in the TPS.Minimum Requirements:Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.Pre-employment Checks:The Head of State Service has determined that the person nominated for this vacancy is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer.
