The Opportunity: We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced senior associate or special counsel to join our general insurance team on a full-time basis. This role will provide the opportunity to work across a diverse range of legally challenging and factually complex matters focusing on professional indemnity and general liability. The work is high quality, working for one of the leading insurance partners in NSW with clients based both domestically and internationally.
Your main responsibilities will include: Oversee and manage a diverse caseload of professional indemnity and general liability claims, ensuring exceptional client representation and successful outcomes. There will be a focus on matters involving insurance policy advice and coverage disputes. Some of the matters include large catastrophic losses and class actions.Provide guidance, mentorship, and supervision to junior lawyers, assisting in their professional growth and development.Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings with expertise and confidence.Offer ongoing legal advice and support to clients throughout the entire litigation process.Skills and Experience: To be successful in this role you will have:
A Bachelor of Laws or equivalent and a current New South Wales practising certificate.Minimum 5 years' post-admission experience in liability or professional indemnity, with experience in insurance policy advice and coverage disputes.Strong command of Australian tort law, civil procedure, and relevant legislation.Proven ability to effectively mentor and supervise junior lawyers, fostering their growth and success.Exceptional research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.A commercial approach and ability to articulate and negotiate effectively.What We Offer: In return, McCabes will provide you with the opportunity to work with a talented team in a flexible, inclusive, and innovative environment.
