Job Description We are seeking an experienced and driven Special Counsel - Employment Lawyer with 7+ years of PAE to join our client's thriving team.
As a key part of their firm, you will handle a diverse caseload, mentoring junior lawyers and representation on a range of employment law matters.

Key Responsibilities Leadership and Mentorship: Lead and mentor junior lawyers and paralegals within the employment law team.
Provide strategic guidance and supervision on complex employment law matters.
Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, providing them with high-level legal advice and strategic solutions.
Serve as the primary point of contact for significant clients, ensuring their needs are met with professionalism and expertise.
Complex Case Management: Manage and oversee high-stakes employment law cases, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
Develop case strategies, draft pleadings, and represent clients in court and before administrative bodies.
Advisory Services: Provide expert legal counsel on a broad spectrum of employment issues, such as discrimination, workplace harassment, wrongful termination, and compliance with employment laws.
Advise on the legal implications of employment policies, practices, and procedures.
Policy and Procedure Development: Draft and review employment contracts, employee handbooks, and workplace policies to ensure compliance with current laws and regulations.
Develop and implement workplace training programs on employment law topics.
Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments and provide strategic advice on minimizing potential legal risks related to employment practices.
Handle sensitive workplace investigations and recommend appropriate actions.
Continuous Legal Education: Stay abreast of developments in employment law and ensure the team is informed about relevant changes.
Conduct internal training sessions and contribute to the firm's knowledge base.
Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including cross-selling other firm services to existing clients.
Participate in marketing and networking events to enhance the firm's profile in the employment law sector.
Operational Excellence: Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures to improve efficiency and service delivery.
Ensure compliance with the firm's billing practices and manage the financial performance of cases.
Strategic Contributions: Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes within the firm.
Contribute to the firm's thought leadership by writing articles, speaking at conferences, and engaging with media outlets on employment law topics.
These responsibilities reflect the high level of expertise and leadership expected from a Special Counsel in Employment Law, emphasizing both client service and internal mentorship.
Qualifications 7+ years PAE with a strong focus on employment law.
Experience in complex employment matters and cases.
Admitted to practice law in Queensland.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to advise and guide junior lawyers.
Proven ability to manage a varied caseload effectively.
Strong commitment to client service and maintaining the highest ethical standards.
