Waverley Christian College is a forward thinking and culturally diverse Christian co-educational school from Kinder to Year 12.
We have been providing students with a quality Christian educational experience for over 45 years.
With campuses in Wantirna South and Narre Warren South, Waverley Christian College has an enrolment of over 2400 students with 400 staff across both campuses in 2024.
The Wantirna South Campus is seeking a part-time (FTE 0.4) SPARC Special Education Primary Teacher to join our team and play a pivotal role in the SPARC (Supported Program of Applied Readiness for Community) program.
The SPARC Program forms part of our Learning Enhancement and Program Support (LEAPS) Department at the Waverley Christian College.
The LEAPS Department provides learning enrichment and support for a wide range of students throughout the College including those with disabilities and diverse learning needs.
The team consists of Learning Support Coordinators (LSCs), Learning Support Teachers (LSTs) for both intervention and enrichment), and Learning Support Assistants (LSAs).
The department collaborates with parents, teachers and other specialists to form a multi-disciplinary approach to supporting students and their learning needs.
The SPARC program provides tailored support for students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they are equipped for academic success, social development, and life in the wider community.
As a SPARC Teacher, you will work closely with the Director of Learning Support and the LEAPS Coordinator to provide targeted, individualised educational support for students with diverse learning needs.
As a member of our Learning Support team, you will have the opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of students, while growing professionally in a supportive and collaborative environment.
The successful applicant must: Be a qualified teacher and hold a current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) with a strong understanding of special education needs and experience working with students with diverse learning profiles.
Be experienced in writing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and conducting assessments.
Have high level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with parents, staff, and external professionals.
Have current First Aid qualifications and Anaphylaxis Certificate or be willing to obtain these prior to commencement.
Be able to show a commitment to the values and ethos of Christian education.
Be willing to get involved in all aspects of the College's programs and opportunities.
