The Role Southern Ports is recruiting a Senior Manager – Finance Business Partner to join their team in Perth, Bunbury, Albany or Esperance. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Manager, Finance Business Partner plays a critical role in supporting the strategic and operational decision-making processes of our port business. This position requires a strong financial acumen combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively partner with various stakeholders across the organisation. Key accountabilities and functions will include analysis, guidance, and strategic recommendations to enhance business performance and drive growth.
The Senior Manager, Finance Business Partner will be responsible for partnering with various stakeholders across the organisation to support the preparation and analysis of all aspects of financial activities. This role will also lead and manage a small team of financial professionals based in each of the ports. This is a hands-on role, requiring attention to detail, managing competing priorities and driving process improvements with aim of delivering outputs commensurate of a high performing finance function.
Key Duties Lead and develop a small team of finance professionals, providing mentorship and guidance. Participate in the development of long-term strategic plans, ensuring alignment with financial objectives. Manage the price-setting process, ensuring pricing strategies align with government regulations, business goals and market conditions. Partnering with the Commercial and Engineering team, oversee and manage the sustaining capital expenditure portfolio, ensuring projects align with strategic objectives and financial constraints. Lead the preparation and analysis of financial reports, forecasts, and budgets and submissions to both internal and external stakeholders. Implement performance management frameworks to track KPIs and operational metrics utilising the latest dashboarding and analytical tools. Facilitate regular business reviews and discussions with operational leaders to drive accountability and performance improvement. Collaborate closely with operational teams to understand business drivers and challenges. Manage relationships with WA government stakeholders through different government departments namely Treasury and Transport. Conduct financial modelling and scenario analysis to support business initiatives. Focus on Strategic Orientation, Leadership and Team Development, Stakeholder Management, Financial Acumen, and a Results-Driven Mindset. The Expertise Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA / CA, or equivalent professional qualification. 10+ years of experience in finance roles, with at least 5 years in a business partnering and senior financial management position. Experience in working within a Government Trading Enterprise will be highly regarded, but is not essential. Experience in developing dashboarding using Power BI will be highly advantageous. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on strategic thinking. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Proficiency in financial modelling and advanced Excel skills. Familiarity with ERP systems and financial software will be highly regarded.
