Job Title: Southern Plan of Management Coordinator
Location: Rockhampton
Job Classification: 2 years (subject to continued funding)
We are seeking applications from Darumbal People or other local people with links to Darumbal Sea Country Be part of a leadership role in the development of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Southern Plan of Management (SPOM). Co-design the statutory plan of management with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (Reef Authority). The new plan will provide an opportunity to describe the values and aspirations of Traditional Owners in the management of our Sea Country. Darumbal Enterprises Pty Ltd, the operating arm of DPAC requires a Southern Plan of Management Coordinator (SPOMC) to support Darumbal's input into the development of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority new Southern Plan of Management that will span from Yuwi (developing) TUMRA area to the southern extent of the Port Curtis Coral Coast TUMRA region and the TUMRA regions of Darumbal and Woppaburra Country.
Darumbal Enterprises has an exciting opportunity for a Southern Plan of Management Coordinator to work with GBRMPA and neighbouring Traditional Owner Groups on the new statutory plan of management. This is a full-time role working on a wide range of activities relating to Darumbal's TUMRA, sea country values and other related programs such as the BROLGA Program.
Some of your duties Facilitate activities as per the agreed Project Plan including engagement with Darumbal People and broader Indigenous community. Convene and/or attend Traditional Owner Reference Group; Steering Committee; Project Team and other meetings as needed/required. Provide a detailed budget for the relevant financial year to which the project plans relate. Support Darumbal's strategic direction and protection of native title rights and interests. What you will need Knowledge of the history of Traditional Owner Great Barrier Reef Management in modern history. Ability to plan, conduct meetings, oversee programs, and complete them in a timely fashion and within budget. Sound communication skills, (both written and oral) to enable effective relationships with key stakeholders and members of the Darumbal community. Proven skills in the use of computer software, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite of programs. Ability to analyse situations and issues, plus the ability to respond accordingly, identifying actions and solutions. Ability to supervise staff and mentor youth. Minimum Provisional Drivers Licence. Highly organised and collaborative. Ability to take initiative, dependability, flexibility and resourcefulness. Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
