This role is a Permanent position on 8-day fortnight at our Worsley Alumina Refinery , which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (45 minutes) and other nearby scenic communities.
The Major Shutdown Coordinator is a critical leadership role responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing large-scale shutdowns within the Calcination, Liquor Burner, and Energy assets.
Reporting directly to South32 Major shutdown Superintendent, the Coordinator will also have supervisors as direct reports while overseeing a diverse team of contractors and ensuring efficient, safe, and timely project delivery during shutdown periods, typically involving a 60-hour workweek.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Supervision: Manage a large base of contractors and ensure alignment with project goals, safety standards, and South32 expectations.
Shutdown Planning: Develop comprehensive shutdown schedules, resource allocation plans, and execution strategies to optimize asset downtime.
Safety and Compliance: Maintain stringent adherence to safety protocols, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance throughout the shutdown.
Collaboration and Communication: Serve as the key liaison between South32 supervisors, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and clear reporting.
Performance Management: Monitor progress, address challenges, and implement solutions to maintain productivity and achieve milestones.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for operational improvements and integrate lessons learned into future shutdowns.
Requirements:
Proven experience in managing complex industrial shutdowns.
Strong leadership and coordination skills, with the ability to manage large contractor teams.
Deep understanding of processes within Calcination, Liquor Burner, and Energy assets.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency.

ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
Prior experience in a similar role within the Mining Industry SAP data entry and processing skills Demonstrate commitment to safe working practices.
Qualifications for this position are:
