Job description We are on the hunt for an experienced Sous Chef to join our Quartz Cuisine at Cofield in a full time position.
Working under the guidance of our Executive Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality dishes that reflect our dedication to locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, and innovative cuisine.
Responsibilities & Duties Food Preparation: Execute the preparation of food items according to standardised recipes and the Executive Chef's guidance while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
Cooking and Plating: Proficiently cook, grill, bake, and sauté a variety of dishes, ensuring consistency in taste, texture, and appearance.
Plate dishes attractively for service.
Menu Development: Collaborate with the Executive Chef in developing and refining menus that showcase seasonal and locally sourced ingredients while catering to the preferences of our guests.
Staff management: Supervising food preparation activities of kitchen staff.
Food allergy considerations: Coordinating with wait staff to ensure special requests and food allergy considerations are met Kitchen Hygiene and Safety : Follow strict sanitation, cleanliness, and food safety standards in the kitchen, ensuring compliance with health department regulations.
Inventory Management: Assist in managing inventory levels, including monitoring stock levels, rotating ingredients, and notifying the Executive Chef of any shortages or discrepancies.
Collaboration : Work closely with the culinary team to maintain a smooth and efficient kitchen operation, assisting in the training and development of junior kitchen staff as needed.
Wine Pairing: Collaborate with our sommelier to develop and recommend wine and food pairings that enhance the overall dining experience.
Customer Engagement: Interact with guests when necessary, answering questions about menu items, accommodating special dietary requests, and ensuring guest satisfaction.
Qualifications & Skills Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a restaurant or culinary establishment, preferably in a similar high-end, boutique environment.
Knowledge of culinary techniques and trends, with a passion for creating innovative and memorable dishes.
Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
